A: North of England Classic & Pre-War Automobiles (formerly known as The North East Club for Pre-War Austins) was established in 1966 by Tony Pelton. It is now the largest Historic Vehicle Club in the North of England, with 900+ members (as per March 2025).
NECPWA a non-profit-making Unincorporated Association, with Honorary Officials, voted in by club members, is a 'multi-marque' club. A recent rough survey showed that the club members owned around 75 different makes of classic cars – including about 175 Austins and several motorcycles, including one or two 'veteran' cars.
Membership is open to any enthusiast of old motor vehicles, and it is not necessary to be a vehicle owner to join the club, however attendance at Club organised rallies is generally restricted to vehicles built before 1st September 2005. [NB individual branches and some events may have different entry rules, including restricted vehicle age limits].
